Ecologist - Petersfield

Core responsibilities will typically include:

  • Provide support and in-depth guidance in many aspects of ecological conservation.
  • Assist in the development of ecological management strategies, plans and budget cost
  • Advise on habitat management and current wildlife legislations.
  • Undertake ecological surveying and logistics planning at a variety of sites, as required.
  • Undertake Preliminary Ecological Assessments, Ecological Impact & Habitat Regulations Assessments.
  • Lead on protected species surveys and reports.
  • Assist with maintaining and developing the Environmental Management System.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior ecologists within the team.

Expected Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant experience as an Ecologist.
  • Educated to Degree standard (or equivalent) in an Environment or Ecology related subject.
  • Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or working towards.
  • Experience in managing own ecological projects from conception to completion.
  • Proficient producing ecological survey reports covering different species and habitats.
  • Confident and capable in habitat identification using UKHab methods and botanical species identification (working FISC level 3)
  • Knowledge and understanding of current wildlife legislation and UK policy.
  • Full UK driving licence.
